As a Southern California native and after pursuing my education at some of the most respected institutions in the country, I feel I have a unique perspective on the California lifestyle. Through the course of my education at both Harvard and Columbia Universities, I wanted to expose myself to the pinnacle of learning and achievement. I knew these unique experiences would give me an opportunity to provide my patients with the highest level of care with my eventual return home to San Diego. I am happy to have joined La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre with its reputation as a San Diego institution. (LJCSC website ) It is the perfect venue for me and my patients. Below you’ll find some information about cosmetic breast surgery and liposuction. You may also find more detailed information about me and these procedures by clicking on the following link. (Meet Dr. Marin CONSIDERING BREAST AUGMENTATION Did you know that the breast implant was invented in Houston in 1962? Millions of women have undergone breast surgery and virtually all are extremely happy with their results. Nearly 400,000 women had breast augmentation in 2007 alone. My interest in breast augmentation began during my surgical training at the Baylor College of Medicine, the birthplace of the breast implant. While at Baylor and in private practice, I have gained significant breast surgery experience. I’ve worked with a wide range of patients – from those who wanted their first breast augmentation to patients looking for revisionary surgery for any number of reasons. Because breast augmentation is so common, the operation is often considered simple and easy. I find this view to be an over simplification of the delicate nature of this surgery. In consultation, I try to help you break down the procedure into a series of relatively easy choices – saline versus silicone, above or below the muscle, incision location and size. I prefer to have you make as many of these decisions as possible. In those situations where I feel comfortable with only one choice, then I explain my reasoning to you in detail. While you need my input, in the end, I believe you are the best ultimate decision maker. To help you pick the right size, you will have the opportunity to experience our extensive Curves Connection sizing program. (Curves Connection ) When you understand your choices and the surgical process, then you and I together have the best opportunity to achieve your goals and desires. CONSIDERING LIPOSUCTION Modern Liposuction was introduced to the United States in the early 1980’s. Like breast augmentation, liposuction has become one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures in the U.S. - over 400,000 patients underwent the procedure last year. I treat liposuction with the same respect that I do cosmetic breast surgery. This is a wonderful and extremely satisfying procedure in the right hands. I find this procedure to be successful for many different body types. I have happy patients wearing the smallest bikini to those who are just happier looking better in their clothes. I judge my liposuction results not by the numbers on a scale but through improved body shape and silhouette. During your consultation for liposuction, I address several factors that affect your ultimate result: amount of fat, skin excess and also the quality (elasticity) of your skin. When we talk, we’ll address your specific goals and tailor the procedure to meet your individual needs. If you’re considering cosmetic surgery, choosing the right surgeon is the most important decision you’ll make. I’d love to have the opportunity to talk with you about your goals and to help you make an informed and educated decision.
